Gift of a Wedding are a distinctive UK charity which provides free weddings to people with a terminal illness, regardless of age, race, religion, gender or sexual orientation.
On Friday, 15th April 2016 Craig and Joan were gifted a wedding, by this remarkable charity. Craig has been diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. They are an amazing couple, filled with so much love, kindness, compassion and an outrageous sense of fun.

Craig and Joan registered their marriage at Knowsley Register Office, in the afternoon, with a ceremony for close friends and family. In the evening I had the honour of conducting a Wedding Celebration ceremony, at the Isla Gladstone, as part of a fundraising event for Macmillan Cancer Support, Zoe's Place and Woodlands Hospice. Local companies, the boxer David Price and Liverpool and Everton Football Clubs, provided raffle prizes. But the big event of the evening was when Joan had her hair shaved off - for charity of course! Joan has given her hair to the Little Princess Trust, to be used to make wigs for children who lose their hair following cancer treatment. Click on the video to see more of their big day...

Craig and Joan's wedding day was also the 27th anniversary of Hillsborough. Craig is a massive Liverpool fan and was due to go to the 1989 FA Cup Semi Final match, in Sheffield, with his friends, but he missed his train. One of Craig's very good friends was one of the Liverpool supporters who died that day. At 3.06pm, the time that the match was stopped, the couple released 96 red balloons, in memory of the 96 LFC fans who lost their lives.

Celebrant - Lorraine Hull, Independent Liverpool Celebrant
Very sad to report that Craig lost his battle with cancer and passed away, in his wife's arms, eight months after their wedding.
Rest in peace Craig; it was a privilege to have met you xxx
Hi, I am Lorraine Hull, an award-winning Independent Celebrant, based in Liverpool.
I am most usually asked to conduct ceremonies in North-West England and North Wales but I am happy to travel anywhere within the U.K. or abroad.
At the risk of shouting (and sounding extremely cheesy) "I LOVE MY JOB".
I love to create and conduct personal and personalised Wedding, Partnership, Commitment, Naming, and Celebration of Life ceremonies; anyone, and everyone, is welcome to ask me to work with, and for, them.
I believe that all people (and animals) should all be treated kindly, fairly and with respect.
We are all unique and we all matter.
I advocate kindness, fairness, respect and equality for all through everything that I say and do: Love is Love, Family is Family, Life is Life.
You may also like to know that I hold Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance, I adhere to a strict code of conduct and I am committed to developing and sharing best practice with my Celebrant colleagues, so that we can all be the best Celebrants that we can possibly be.
